About The Position

Microchip Technology Inc. is seeking an Engineer II – Computer Systems to join our team in Beverly, Massachusetts. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing Tier-2 Desktop Support, ensuring prompt and effective resolution of IT issues for end users. This position involves close coordination with both Tier-1 and Tier-3 IT teams. The role is primarily based at our Beverly-Tozer facility, with additional responsibility for desktop support at the Brimbal facility, which will require occasional travel. Coverage at our Lawrence and Lowell locations may also be required as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science with a minimum of 2.5 years’ experience in an IT support environment.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Positive attitude and proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Willing to learn and adapt with new and existing technology.
  • Strong experience with Windows 11, Active Directory, and Office 365 in a heterogeneous environment.
  • Ability to support multiple users daily.
  • Capable of working in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment supporting over 250 users.
  • Comfortable working within a tiered support structure.
  • Strong technical aptitude and proven problem-solving abilities.

  • ITIL Foundation certification.
  • Experience supporting engineering lab environments.
  • Familiarity with the ServiceNow ticketing system.
  • Previous experience with Microchip Desktop Support Systems.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver daily technical support for internal desktop systems, including hardware, software, network, security, basic server, and storage infrastructure for over 250 users.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot Windows XP, 7, 10, and 11 operating systems, workstations, smartphones, and network equipment in a heterogeneous environment.
  • Manage user and computer objects within Active Directory.
  • Perform Windows imaging for break-fix scenarios and new computer equipment.
  • Analyze, install, modify, and support operating systems, databases, and utility software.
  • Resolve escalation tickets in a timely manner.
  • Conduct routine backup operations for the Beverly facility.
  • Provide support and troubleshooting for basic Unix/Linux requests and issues.
  • Operate and maintain internal data communication systems across multiple platforms and protocols, including VoIP.
  • Assist the Information Services Support Manager in standardizing organizational processes, procedures, and policies.
  • Participate in the development of information technology and infrastructure projects as needed.
  • Provide remote support for assigned off-site offices and a limited number of home users.
  • Travel to other Microchip facilities in North America may be required.

  • The annual base salary range for this position, which could be performed in the US, is $70,304-$143,000.
  • Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
