About The Position

The purpose of this position is to provide overall engineering execution leadership on medium and large sized projects or for a specific area on a large / mega project. This position has the overall responsibility and accountability for the performance of the engineering team and the successful execution of all engineering work on the project. This position also leads and guides the development and implementation of the execution strategy and oversees development and enforcement of engineering budget, schedule, and quality. This role also has the responsibility to promote Fluor’s competitiveness within the global marketplace by delivering quality services of unmatched value and technical competence. Assist in proposal preparation for power project engineering services, provide technical details for proposal narratives and data requirements, optimize power thermal cycle design to provide proposal competitive advantages Participate in client presentations on Fluor proposals and technical capabilities for power projects, provide high value technical advice to clients for power project development Lead multi discipline team of engineers and designers adhering to assigned task scope, budget and schedule. Interface and coordinate with non-engineering disciplines such as procurement, contracts, construction, commissioning to facilitate most cost effective total installed cost EPC solution. Lead a team of several engineers to develop mechanical process design and specifications for study, feasibility, Front End Engineering Development (FEED)/Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) phase project definition and/or execution With working knowledge of power industry typical contract strategies, work with balance of project team to develop and implement risk mitigation strategies, in particular performance and schedule guarantees and flow down of liquidated damages to major equipment suppliers. Develop Power Technology Quality Plans for small to large size power projects and ensure quality of design through oversight and checking of work by others Execute Fluor’s scope of power engineering work according to contract requirements Interface with client representatives: project, planning, process and instrument engineers, operations and maintenance to align contract requirements and expectations Interface with Fluor discipline engineers to develop interdisciplinary drawings and specifications Train team members in power technology specific skills Execute studies as required and/or needed to provide cost effective facilities Train team members in client business objectives, project development process & methods, critical financial parameters, and technologies Develop and manage engineering schedules and effort-hours budgets Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines Organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner, set priorities, and meet deadlines Plan and organize own work assignments, as well as carry out tasks from management staff Maintain compliance with all applicable Fluor policies, procedures, and global standards Adhere to and support Fluor's Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability Policies Effectively develop, maintain and apply the required Core Skills to the job May require business trip travel to attend client meetings and presentations and site support of construction and commissioning work Meet management expectations on attendance and punctuality Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study and twenty (20) years of work-related experience
  • OR
  • Accredited two (2) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and twenty-two (22) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to twenty-four (24) years if non-degreed.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Job-related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job.
  • Job related skills required - Strong leadership skills, customer focus, business acumen, influence, strategic agility, decision making, personal accountability, ownership and follow-through, a team player, mentor, and coach.
  • Ability to translate strategy (“what”) into actionable steps / executions plans (“how”), ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner.
  • Held positions as Project Lead Engineer on FEED and Detail Design projects.
  • Expert experience with power technology and process design; good knowledge of steam turbines, gas turbines (E, F, G and J/H class), coal fired boilers (subcritical, supercritical, Ultrasupercritical (USC), circulating fluidized bed) and Heat Recovery Steam Generators Heat Recovery Steam Generators Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSGs), extensive experience in designing and optimizing power plant thermal cycles. Experience in combined cycle, cogeneration and Rankine power cycles required.
  • Good leadership and team player
  • Good English speaking and writing skills and ability to interface with multinational companies
  • Ability to portray expertise, technical aptitude and professionalism to internal and external clients
  • Mobility for business trips and short-term project site assignments

Nice To Haves

  • Some field experience in both construction and commission (or operations)
  • Multi-engineering discipline background with emphasis on power process/mechanical engineering.
  • Design institute and/or engineering company work experience
