About The Position

MSRC is seeking an Engineering Technician to support testing activities at Redstone Arsenal.   Candidate will be responsible for fabrication efforts to support ongoing testing and direct communication with customers, stakeholders and teammates.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of precision machining experience programming, setup and operation of manual and CNC lathes/mills.
  • Prior experience reading engineering drawings and CAD models to produce unique precision parts.
  • Prior experience in programing, setup, and operation of a variety of machines including 3-axis CNC mills, CNC lathes, manual mills and manual lathes.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • High School diploma required, degree or formal training in machine tool technology or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Candidate must currently possess and be able to maintain an active security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a DoD or R&D environment.
  • Experience supporting testing activities
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks models and drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate directly with customers and interpret engineering drawings to manufacture custom precision components, supporting diverse projects in a fast-paced, constantly evolving R&D environment with minimal supervision.
  • Operate a variety of machine tools for fabrication tasks, including (but not limited to) band saws, lathes, milling machines, hand tools, precision measuring equipment, general machine shop tools, and tool grinders.
  • Set up and operate multi-purpose computerized numerically controlled (CNC) machines to perform any combination of machining operations.
  • Develop and modify CNC programs using Mastercam or similar CAM software.
  • Perform sheet metal fabrication including cutting, forming, drilling, and assembly of components and enclosures.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments to verify dimensional accuracy and maintain tight tolerances.
  • Collaborate directly with engineers and technical staff to support prototype development and hardware modifications.
