The Machinist is tasked to apply their expertise daily in support of a rotating equipment repair shop located at the site. The primary duties of this position are to operate machine shop equipment (details below) as well as participate in the disassembly, inspection, repair, and assembly of rotating equipment.A Day in the LifeAccountable for personal safety, the safety of co-workers and promoting a safe work environment; responsible for carrying out all work activities in compliance with federal and state environmental regulations.Operate machine shop equipment including but not limited to engine lathes, milling machines, vertical turret lathes, horizontal boring mills, dynamic balance machine.Disassemble, inspect, develop repair scope, perform requisite machining / repairs, and assemble rotating equipment.Execute scheduled work by:Reviewing assigned job scopes for completeness and understanding.Acquiring all necessary parts, tools, and instructions prior to starting the job to maximize work efficiency.Following all necessary safety procedures and practices.Ensuring work is completed per company and industry standards.Updating supervisor on job progress and any problems encountered in completing the defined scope of work.Completing all documentation using a computerized maintenance management system.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience as an industrial millwright; in addition, prefer at least one of the following:     Journeyman Millwright from a recognized apprenticeship program     NCCER Industrial Millwright certification
  • The candidate must have a working knowledge of:Equipment design and application for various types of machinery: turbo machinery, process pumps, reciprocating compressors, process fans, and rotary feedersLaser alignment technology and their applicationMechanical drawings, P&ID's, and mechanical seal drawingsPrecision measuring tools
  • The individual must possess effective organizational and communication (verbal & written) skills and must be able to interface with all personnel on-site in a positive, clear, and collaborative manner.
  • The successful candidate must possess independent decision-making skills, a high degree of ownership, and be able to work autonomously.
  • Must possess good housekeeping standards.
  • Must be willing and able to provide overtime coverage and work plant call-outs.
  • Must be willing and able to stand and walk for extended periods of time as well as frequently bend, reach, and lift.
  • The candidate must be willing and able to work outside, year-round under various weather conditions. LyondellBasell’s chemicals plants and refinery are 24-hour, 365 days per year operations.
  • The candidate must be capable of climbing (scaffolds, towers, vessels, etc.).
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to work in a confined space and from elevated platforms.
  • Able to wear appropriate protective equipment.
