S&ME is looking for an eager and dependable full-time Environmental Driller Assistant to join our Environmental team in Pell City, Alabama. What You Will Do: As an Environmental Driller Assistant - CDL Driver, you will support field operations on environmental and geotechnical drilling projects throughout Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi. Based out of the Logan Martin Geological Building in Vincent, Alabama, this role involves extensive travel, hands-on work, and a 10-hour, 4-day workweek (Monday-Thursday). You'll assist with equipment operation, sample collection, site remediation, and ground modification tasks while maintaining a strong focus on safety and quality.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of one (1) year of construction or drilling experience
  • valid driver's license
  • valid CDL license
  • Effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language
  • S&ME conducts pre-employment background and motor vehicle record checks, as well as post-offer drug screenings. Employment is contingent upon pre-employment check results.
  • This role involves hands-on work in outdoor environments, and with Company-provided Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), you'll need to be comfortable with: Working outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Walking over rough, uneven terrain and standing (potentially up to 12 hours a day)
  • Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
  • Working outside of normal business hours and traveling (typically out-of-town and/or overnight) as project needs arise
  • Candidates must comply with our Fleet Management, Substance Policy, and Reference Check requirements.
  • Only candidates with valid employment eligibility (I-9) will be considered.
  • Visa assistance is not available.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiar with the safe operation of a Bobcat Skid Steer Loader, a plus

Responsibilities

  • Operate and Maintain Equipment: Use and care for drilling rigs, concrete cutting tools, grouting systems, and chemical injection equipment on various job sites.
  • Assist Lead Driller: Help with remediation services and collect soil, rock, and groundwater samples to support project goals.
  • Drive and Maintain Gear: Transport equipment to sites, perform routine maintenance, and operate both small and heavy machinery.
  • Perform Site Repairs: Support concrete and foundation repairs and assist with ground modification efforts to stabilize site conditions.
  • Follow Safety Protocols: Wear required PPE, including steel-toed boots and high-visibility gear, and occasionally use respirators and protective suits.
