About The Position

Pima County Health Department (PCHD) is offering eight (8) paid summer internship positions of up to 400 hours each, providing aspiring public health professionals with valuable hands-on experience. This grant-funded temporary position represents one of eight (8) internship opportunities. The internship will run from 5/18/2026 - 7/31/2026. For students seeking academic credit with this internship, an active Affiliation Agreement between the academic institution and Pima County Health Department must already be established. Housing will be offered to students for the duration of the internship. This position will assist with data analysis and visualization, reporting, and coordination of community outreach events. This classification is in unclassified service and is exempt from the Pima County Merit System Rules.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in a graduate degree program in Public Health, Health Policy, Epidemiology, or related level degree program.
  • Must have a bachelor's degree from a four-year institution.
  • Must commit to 400 hours between the dates of 5/18/2026-7/31/2026.
  • Qualifying education and experience must be clearly documented in the "Education" and "Work Experience" sections of the application.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with/knowledge in statistical programming for data analysis, visualization, and report generation, preferably in R or STATA.
  • Experience working with large public health datasets, including cleaning, transforming, and analyzing data.
  • Experience with translating complex data into clear, actionable insights for public health audiences.
  • Experience with geospatial analysis and software including ArcGIS.
