About The Position

THE CITY OF LEAWOOD, KANSAS is looking for an  Event Attendant (Part-Time Position) As the Event (Recreation) Attendant, you will serve as the liaison for event patrons renting a City facility to ensure their special event or meeting goes smoothly.   Are you the ideal candidate to assist the Recreation division as an Event (Recreation) Attendant? Summary of the Position: The Event (Recreation) Attendant greets patrons, answers questions, and assists in the execution of community center classes, facility tours, and privately hosted events and meetings. The Event (Recreation) Attendant will be assigned to various locations across the City of Leawood, including but not limited to the Leawood Community Center, Lodge at Ironwoods, Fire Station meeting rooms, and Wave at 106. Average number of hours will depend on the event schedule. Hours are predominantly evenings and/or weekends, with some daytime hours available.   Average of 10-20 hours a week Peak Season (May – October)  Off-Season (November – April)

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record per the City’s drivers Use of Vehicles for City Business policy throughout employment with the City.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working in a customer service based position and experience working large events is preferred.
  • Experience working with audio/visual equipment, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serving as liaison for event patrons on the event day at a City facility. Responsibilities will include but not limited to ensuring facility is open, greeting patrons upon arrival, helping with bringing in event items, assisting outside vendors with set up and setting up any related audio/visual equipment.
  • Completing opening and closing procedures for assigned facility. Responsibilities include ensuring facilities are locked/unlocked before and after the event, cleaned, and properly set up as provided by Recreation Events Supervisor. May be required to complete minor room adjustments with tables and chairs as well as completing some light cleaning.
  • Ensuring event patrons follow the rules, regulations and expectations allowed for the assigned facility as listed in the event contract.
  • Assisting the Recreation Events Supervisor with providing information and giving tours of event spaces to interested patrons, vendors and the public.
  • Assisting patrons with inquiries regarding recreation classes and programs. Responsibilities may include registering for a class or program on the City’s registration platform, checking in for a program or class, directing them to the appropriate class location, and assisting with registrations, shelter rentals, and pool passes.
