About The Position

We are seeking a 1st Shift Environmental Services Equipment Specialist at Kaiser Permanente Gaithersburg Medical Center in Gaithersburg, MD. The EVS Equipment Specialist is responsible for managing, maintaining, and repairing equipment used by the Environmental Services team to ensure a clean, safe, and efficient environment. This role involves equipment inventory management, preventative maintenance, and training staff on proper equipment usage. The EVS Equipment Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the organization's commitment to cleanliness and safety.

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in equipment maintenance and repair, preferably in an EVS, custodial, or facilities management setting.
  • Post-Offer Medical, Background Screening, to include Department of Motor Vehicle check and Drug Test required

Nice To Haves

  • Technical certifications in equipment repair or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Equipment Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on EVS equipment, such as floor scrubbers, buffers, vacuums, and carpet cleaners. Diagnose mechanical or electrical issues and determine appropriate repair solutions. Coordinate with external vendors for complex repairs or warranty claims.
  • Inventory Management: Track equipment inventory, ensuring all tools and machinery are accounted for and in proper working condition. Order and stock replacement parts, consumables, and new equipment as needed.
  • Training and Support: Train EVS staff on the proper use, care, and maintenance of equipment to maximize efficiency and lifespan. Provide troubleshooting assistance to team members experiencing equipment issues during shifts.
  • Documentation and Compliance: Maintain detailed records of equipment maintenance schedules, repairs, and inventory levels. Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulations, and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance equipment efficiency and reduce downtime. Collaborate with EVS leadership to evaluate new equipment and technologies.
