About The Position

At Bronson Hospital, we are committed to keeping our patients and visitors safe and healthy. We’re looking for an Environmental Services Floor Technician to help lead the efforts in maintaining cleanliness and infection control across the hospital. You’ll play a key role in ensuring the hospital is a clean, safe environment for both patients and staff.

  • Must have a practical understanding of Universal Precautions, use of cleaning chemicals and completion of self-inspections.
  • Must be able to communicate (verbally and in writing) in English (at or above the 8th grade level) with department staff and internal and external customers.
  • Must have the ability to be part of a team concept.
  • Work which rarely produces a high level of mental/visual fatigue, i.e., less than 20 percent of the work time.
  • Job definitely requires above average strength and/or stamina to regularly lift weights up to 100 pounds and occasionally assisting with heavier tasks or expending the equivalent effort in pushing, pulling, or otherwise handling material, equipment and other objects.
  • Work may be performed in positions requiring considerable expenditure of effort in reaching, climbing, maintaining balance, or manipulating heavy objects.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in cleaning or floor care is a plus, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Clean surfaces in all areas of Bronson Healthcare properties using the proper cleaning tools and equipment
  • Remove biomedical waste from assigned areas
  • Strip and clean floors according to established procedures
  • Polish, shampoo, finish, mop, scrub, vacuum, extract, wash, and clean assigned surfaces
  • Move furniture, remove trash, and perform other related duties as needed
  • Operate power cleaning machines to assist with cleaning tasks
  • Ensure all areas are cleaned to meet high standards of safety and hygiene
  • Follow detailed instructions and regularly check your work to meet quality standards
  • Removes biomedical waste from assigned areas. (Must have proper training and certification to handle biomedical waste.)
  • Strips and cleans floors according to established procedures.
  • Cleans upholstered furniture, rugs, carpets and fixtures in assigned areas.
  • Cleans rooms, hallways, lobbies, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, and other work areas.
  • May move furniture, remove trash, and perform other related duties, including operating power machines.
  • Transports trash and waste to disposal area.
  • Maintains / Cleans equipment and stores in proper place.
  • Restock supplies as assigned.
