About The Position

Executive Functions, Inc., dba EF Specialists (EFS), is the most comprehensive executive function coaching company in California that is NPA certified to work with schools to provide support to a student's individual needs while also offering private/individual support to families. Our mission is to guide middle and high school students in overcoming procrastination, disorganization, and anxiety by teaching time management, prioritization, and communication skills so they feel motivated, prepared, and empowered. Our sessions are held remotely in a 1:1 setting. We are a customer-centric and growing business, with an innovative and comprehensive five-step coaching process, uniquely tailored to each student. Under general supervision, an Executive Function/Math Specialist will perform direct client service; support students and families in developing skills and strategies to manage educational and vocational challenges, with a speciality focus in math; collaborate effectively with families using the family team meeting structure and process; engage in a continuous professional development cycle that includes receiving and applying feedback; effectively manage documentation of services and work; mentor, support, and organize the work of a group of assigned specialists.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding and application of current research and findings in ADHD, executive functioning, learning disabilities, gifted learning, special education, and best practices for providing support in these areas.
  • Ability and desire to work as part of a professional interdisciplinary team.
  • Work on evenings and weekends to be responsive to parent and student availability.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Possess excellent customer service, interpersonal, and written communication skills that reflect sensitivity to their audience (parents, school staff, mental health professionals).
  • Maintain effective working relationships; demonstrate sensitivity to, and respect for, a diverse population.
  • Interact with other employees, students, and the public in a helpful, courteous, and friendly manner.
  • Flexibility and professionalism to respond productively to unexpected occurrences in operation and with clients.

  • Proficient in company systems including TutorBird and Basecamp.
  • Degree in math, finance or related field; or the equivalent
  • Completion of required internal training as assigned by leadership.
  • Maintains authorization to work in this area of need as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct service to students/clients through weekly remote meetings
  • Works with both private pay, school district clients, and Self Determination Program (SDP) students adapting approaches and processes as needed based on specific case requirements and guidelines.
  • Ability to read, understand, and analyze SPED documents (assessments, IEPs, etc.) and use such documents to identify a client’s executive function challenges and their underlying academic issues
  • Completes assessments in executive function and/or academic areas as directed by leadership
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with clients and families, including text messages, emails, phone calls, and online video meetings.
  • Monitors and documents baseline levels of performance and ongoing progress by uploading appropriate attachments, such as report card grades and PDFs of missing assignment summaries to Tutorbird meeting notes to communicate progress or a lack thereof.
  • Uses data to track client performance and routinely informs students and families of progress toward case goals.
  • Collaborates with allied professionals such as teachers, therapists, and counselors, as needed and requested, to support case goals.
  • Follows company protocols for Family Team Meetings (FTM) and is able to plan and facilitate family team meetings as needed to engage family and students in the coaching process.
  • Attends IEP and 504 meetings if requested; is able to share their experience and provide written input to the 504 and IEP team.
  • Is able to work with multiple team members working on the same case and maintains communication with other specialists and case managers.
  • Reviews new client documents when assigned a new student.
  • Attends team meetings and collaborates with other specialists and leadership team members.
  • Effectively uses Tutor Bird, Google Drive, and Basecamp for tracking, communication, and client management.
  • Develop collegial relationships with outside professionals to promote cross-referrals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
