About The Position

FCS is an evangelical, non-denominational, Christian school, dedicated to a strong academic program with Christian character and Biblical truth integrated in every area, in order that students develop a lifelong Biblical worldview. The Extended Care Coordinator is a key part of fulfilling the school’s mission of educating Christian leaders for life. The Extended Care Coordinator supports and advances the mission of FCS by directing the activities of the extended care students (3-6 pm); reports to the Lower School Principal.

Requirements

  • Committed Christian with a close personal walk with the Lord, maintained through personal routines (such as prayer and reading the Bible) and in the school setting (through regular participation in “Prayer and Share” devotional times and other spiritual development opportunities at the school) (1Thessalonians 5:11)
  • Possesses Christian character qualities to serve as a role model for young people and readiness to share faith in Christ with students as part of our school’s mission (1 Timothy 4:12)
  • Regular in attendance at a Christian, Bible-believing church, whose fundamental beliefs are not contrary to the FCS Statement of Faith (Hebrews 10:25)
  • Commitment to a Biblical lifestyle, not promoting or engaging in actions, beliefs, or lifestyles contrary to biblical standards, such as premarital, extramarital, transgender, or homosexual behavior (Romans 12:1-2, I Corinthians 6:9-20, Ephesians 4:1-11, 5:3-5, I Thessalonians 4:3-8, I Timothy 4:12, II Timothy 2:19-22, I Peter 1:15-16, 2:15-17, I John 3:1-3)
  • If married, demonstrates a solid commitment based on the principle of Mark 10:9 and a positive marital relationship
  • Strong commitment to Christian education affirming that he/she is passionate about the intellectual and moral formation of students and Christian education as a profession, believes their ministerial role as an employee is a good use of time and talent to honor the Lord Jesus Christ, and understands that working at FCS is a Christian ministry position
  • Knowledge and ability to convey Christian beliefs, teachings, faith, and values that are in alignment with the FCS Statement of Faith to students, with the goal of assisting students in the formation and maturity of their own Christian faith
  • Ability to maintain an orderly learning atmosphere
  • Strong organizational abilities to coordinate projects, events and people
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to effectively use Google Calendar and SignUp Genius to create and edit event details
  • Enthusiastic, sensitive, loving rapport with students, openness with parents, volunteers and staff
  • Well organized, diligent, creative
  • Ability to carry out physical requirements related to the job and building environment, such as (but not limited to) climbing stairs, supervising students both out-of-doors and indoors

Responsibilities

  • Arrives at school promptly and stays until such time as necessary responsibilities are completed
  • Develops a warm rapport with students and a positive, secure, neat and attractive environment; trains students in habits and routines which are part of the FCS philosophy; maintains excellent student conduct and attention
  • Prays regularly for each child and presents the Gospel message and other biblical instruction with sensitivity and love; faithfully follows the philosophy and Bible guidelines of the school
  • Ensures that accurate sign-in/sign-out sheets are kept, and any other appropriate records
  • Ensures that lessons and crafts are planned and implemented by extended care assistants and that Biblical principles are integrated throughout the program
  • Conveys a Christian perspective in daily interactions and conversations with sensitivity and love with parents and students
  • Maintains student and family confidentiality and refrains from discussing issues outside of extended care with parents
  • Ensures that students on the playground or in the gym are supervised, and that principles of safety are observed at all times
  • Ensures that Eagle Club staff engages in physical play with children in grades Pre-K up to 8th
  • Interacts with students, building relationships through one-on-one and group activities
  • Ensures that restroom time is supervised
  • Ensures that the extended care rooms are kept tidy and the materials organized
  • Ensures that organization of storage areas are maintained
  • Ensures that children are given assistance when opening snacks and drinks, and that tables and desks are cleaned after snack time
  • Ensures that materials are put away and that new materials are prepared for the next day
  • Ensures that the extended care rooms are attractive and inviting and that bulletin boards are current
  • Assures a quiet work environment for homework time, that assistance is available for students
  • Assists with other tasks as needed
  • Attends Prayer N’ Share regularly (if contract hours accommodate)
  • Prompt and faithful with any supervision duties
  • Check email regularly and completes timecard promptly
  • Annually maintains CPR and First Aid Training certification, and submits Staff Health Report and any other required documents in a timely manner
  • Demonstrates professional responsibility in being punctual and diligent in attendance
  • Dresses professionally and modestly, following the Staff Dress Code
