About The Position

Simon Wiesenthal Center (SWC) is a global Jewish human rights organization that confronts antisemitism and hate, defends the safety of Israel and Jews worldwide, and teaches the lessons of the Holocaust through awareness, advocacy, justice, education, and its Museums of Tolerance. With a constituency of over 400,000 member families since its founding in 1977, the SWC has an international footprint through its Museums of Tolerance, Moriah Films, and the Digital Terrorism + Hate Project. Headquartered in Los Angeles, it maintains operations in New York, Chicago, Miami, Toronto, Paris, Berlin, Jerusalem, and Buenos Aires. It is an accredited Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) at the United Nations, UNESCO, the Organization of American States, the Latin American Parliament, and the Council of Europe and maintains relationships with the highest levels of governments throughout the world. In 1993, the Center opened the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles to worldwide acclaim. The Museum has served as the Center’s flagship educational arm, challenging visitors to confront bigotry and racism, and to understand the Holocaust in both historical and contemporary contexts. In addition, the Center developed Moriah Media to produce theatrical documentaries to educate global audiences. Moriah has produced 17 documentaries to date, two of which have received the Academy Award for best feature documentary, The Long Way Home and Genocide. About the Role: Museum of Tolerance Education (MOT EDU) is seeking experienced Part-Time Contract External Facilitators to deliver high-impact professional development programs for educators, law enforcement, and public safety professionals. Facilitators support MOT EDU’s work through The Tolerance Project, a professional learning initiative centered on dialogue, ethical inquiry, and historical rigor. Programs explore identity, bias, antisemitism, civic responsibility, and historical injustice—equipping participants with tools to reduce the escalation of hate and harm through understanding and connection. This is a contract position, renewed annually based on performance, program needs, alignment with MOT EDU values, and full participation in required professional development.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience facilitating adult learners (educators, law enforcement, or public safety professionals)
  • Demonstrated success leading dialogue on complex topics such as bias, identity, antisemitism, racism, civic responsibility, or historical injustice
  • Strong grounding in adult experiential learning and discussion-based facilitation
  • Ability to balance emotional engagement with analytical rigor
  • Excellent communication skills and professional presence

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working within law enforcement, public safety, or K–12 education systems
  • Background in museum education, Holocaust education, or human-centered professional development

Responsibilities

  • Program Facilitation Deliver MOT EDU–approved curriculum with fidelity to learning objectives, dialogue frameworks, and pedagogical standards
  • Facilitate respectful, structured dialogue on complex historical and contemporary issues
  • Maintain intellectual rigor and ethical inquiry while engaging participants emotionally and thoughtfully
  • Adapt in real time while preserving program integrity
  • Ensure participant evaluations and facilitator reflections are completed and submitted
  • Professional Standards & Collaboration Arrive at least 30 minutes prior to program start and participate in pre- and post-program debriefs as requested
  • Review materials in advance and independently manage instructional technology
  • Collaborate with MOT EDU staff to ensure smooth program execution and partner satisfaction
  • Conduct oneself in alignment with MOT EDU’s professional standards, values, and institutional expectations
  • Required Professional Development (Mandatory): External Facilitators must participate in MOT EDU’s Facilitator Professional Development program as a condition of engagement and contract renewal.
  • Facilitator Boot Camp: May 6–7 (mandatory)
  • Additional required professional development may include: Quarterly professional development sessions Curriculum-specific training Observation and feedback cycles
  • All required professional development is paid at the facilitator’s contract rate.
  • Failure to participate in mandatory training—including the May 6–7 Boot Camp—may affect facilitation assignments and contract renewal eligibility.
