About The Position

Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is currently seeking Fabrication Specialist Team Lead (Level C) to support our site in Orangeburg, South Carolina. Primary Responsibilities: Performs machine set-up, machining, welding set-up, welding, sheet metal fabrication and extrusion, tube bending and fabrication tasks. Performs composite lay-up, fabrication and assembly tasks. Assembles precision mechanical and electro-mechanical components. Assembles, repairs, modifies and installs various power plants and drive trains. Perform soldering on electronic and avionics products. Assembles and installs wire harnesses and avionics products. Prepares test articles, fixtures and data collection devices to perform various tests. Performs organic chemical conversion and paint preparation. Applies organic coatings for corrosion protection and appearance requirements. Works on complex components and systems using established drawings and requirements. This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options. This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of Aerospace, Fabrication, or Manufacturing experience
  • 2+ years of experience utilizing and following detailed work instructions, reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, or specifications, in English.
  • Able to lift up to 35 lbs.; perform frequent lifting up to 10 lbs.; perform occasional carrying, lifting, pushing/pulling, walking, standing, and balancing; perform frequent overhead reaching as well as at or above shoulder level; perform frequent sitting; and frequent climbing.
  • 1+ year of experience in a formal or informal leadership role
  • Ability to work a variable shift.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of experience with drilling
  • 2+ years of experience with Lean Principles (Continuous Improvement, Standard Work, and 5-S tools)
  • 2+ years of experience leading any of the following: staff, teams, production, or quality system initiatives
  • 2+ years of experience with managing or working to safety, quality, and manufacturing performance data
  • 2+ years of experience with sanding, taping, mixing material, the application of paint
