The Facilities Engineer II is responsible for day to day engineering and technical operations support to an FDA regulated, ISO certified, medical device manufacturing complex consisting of two manufacturing buildings, totaling 44,000 sq. ft., a 21,600 sq. ft. warehouse and two smaller offices buildings, totaling an additional 5,400 sq. ft. Areas serviced include utilities, cleanrooms, Lyophilizers, project management, PM's, CM’s, wastewater treatment, and environmental compliance, with a goal of minimal unplanned downtime. Responsible for providing engineering support for maintenance & upgrade of existing plant, and process equipment. Work closely with the management at the site to drive operational improvements in production, cost of quality and safety Assist in the development of project justification and engineering proposals including providing input for capital planning process and directly developing/implementing Capital Projects Reduce equipment downtime and increase overall facilities equipment effectiveness within the site Supports technical equipment and utilities troubleshooting Act as primary technical liaison with contractors Provide recommendations for and implement replacement of equipment and systems due to wear, obsolescence or energy savings Responsible for introduction and project management of new equipment’s. (These projects are typically high-level capital projects with increased complexity and can pose significant risk to product and processes if not designed and implemented correctly) Responsible for engineering support for maintenance, analysis, and upgrade of utility systems when needed (WFI, DIUF, HVAC, CCA, & steam generation). Includes accountability for corrective, preventive, & predictive maintenance activities. Perform timely technical investigations and provide practical manufacturing solutions, under appropriate regulatory guidelines for Medical Device Manufacture. Support/execute and document NC/CAPA/OOS on equipment and facilities related investigations and corrective actions. Design maintenance strategies, procedures, and methods Participates in Root Cause Analysis and problem-solving process. Manages facility engineering related projects including renovations and major building enhancements (Clean Rooms, HVAC, etc.). Supports the plant drafting function by developing new documents (drawings, specification, procedures, label artwork, etc.) as required. This position is the backup of the plant Draftsman, Supports Engineering on plant modifications/expansion and new building acquisitions, including layout/ design, construction management and operations start up. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. Industrial Engineering will be considered with proper experience. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 1 to 5 years’ experience in a Facilities position, preferably in the medical device industry. Experience in clean rooms cleaning and sanitation, refrigeration, controls, and/or Lyophilization is a plus.
  • Knowledge of the various types of equipment and materials used in manufacturing processes such as mixers, pumps, piping, valves, pressure vessels, tanks, sealers, hoods and Multivac packaging equipment’s.
  • Knowledge of plant systems – water purification, steam generation, HVAC chiller and AHU, clean compressed air system, PLC & automation and eAM (Oracle) experience
  • Knowledge of Engineering Change Controls, ISO, QSR and design Control procedures.
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational and communication skills (oral and written).
  • Project management, machine design, process improvement and reliability experience desired.
  • Knowledgeable of electrical circuitry, security, and fire alarm systems
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Project
  • Able to work with minimal supervision
