About The Position

Provo City is hiring a full-time Facilities Maintenance Technician to provide skilled trades work in carpentry, electronics, and a variety of other facility and equipment maintenance and repair projects. Qualified, civic-minded individuals interested in providing these services to Provo residents are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

  • Provo City will honor equivalent combinations of education and experience.
  • Three years of experience as an Apprentice Facilities Maintenance Technician OR five years of progressively responsible experience in a variety of trades or crafts such as carpentry, plumbing, construction, electrical, or other trade.
  • A valid, lawful Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

  • Perform skilled maintenance and repair work across multiple trades, including carpentry, electrical, HVAC, masonry, painting, and general facility upkeep.
  • Diagnose issues with building systems, equipment, HVAC controls, and security/access systems.
  • Design, modify, or troubleshoot construction and maintenance projects as needed.
  • Conduct inspections on facilities, equipment, and project work to ensure safety and code compliance.
  • Plan, prioritize, and oversee maintenance projects, including developing work plans and estimating time, materials, and costs.
  • Maintain accurate records of completed work, materials used, and purchases.
  • Monitor contractor work to ensure alignment with contract requirements, timelines, and quality standards.
  • Supervise full‑time and part‑time maintenance staff, ensuring safe and efficient performance.
  • Maintain tools and equipment, performing minor and major repairs as needed.
  • Perform other facility maintenance duties to support recreation center operations.
