Job Summary: The Facility Maintenance Technician performs skilled maintenance, repair, and installation work to support the safe and reliable operation of facility systems and equipment. The role includes routine and preventive maintenance, facility improvements, and coordination with staff and contractors to ensure the facility remains functional, organized, and compliant.

Responsibilities

  • Build, repair, maintain, relocate and install facility components such as counters, cabinets, benches, partitions, floors, doors, building framework and trim.
  • Troubleshoot and make minor repairs for electrical wiring, circuits, lighting, and panels, and plumbing fixtures, pipes, and water systems.
  • Perform or assists with maintenance and preventative maintenance tasks on Test & Certification Facility equipment.
  • Ability to interpret drawings and blueprints to determine dimensions, materials, and work requirements.
  • Move and assist in transportation, set up, and removal of records, furniture, and equipment.
  • Set up and break down of cubicle partitions
  • Identify when specialized trades are required to complete a project.
  • Coordinate with contractors as required for facility maintenance
  • Conduct contractor safety meetings and escort contractors while in the facility.
  • Removes/replaces damaged ceiling tile, floor coverings, wall coverings, insulations, and other facility materials.
  • Change HVAC air filters in facility and support routine HVAC upkeep.
  • Maintain work logs and documentation.
  • Use various power and hand tools safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain and organize storage areas.
  • Assist with waste management, including safe handling of chemical waste containers, spill cleanup materials, and disposal coordination.
  • Inspect safety equipment regularly, ensure fire extinguishers, alarms, spill kits, and PPE stations are stocked and operational.
  • Collaborate with lab manager and all staff to understand equipment needs to ensure minimal disruption to research activities.
  • Assist with inventory management for equipment or spare parts needed throughout the facility.
  • Maintain Radiation Worker safety training (performed onsite).
  • Other duties as assigned.
