About The Position

The Facilities & Building Maintenance Technician supports the maintenance and operation of a commercial pharmaceutical R&D facility. This position provides hands-on experience maintaining building systems, laboratory infrastructure, and general facility operations while learning from senior technicians. You'll assist with routine maintenance tasks, basic troubleshooting, and facility upkeep to ensure a safe, compliant environment for pharmaceutical research and development activities, directly contributing to JLL's commitment to delivering exceptional facility management services.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Valid driver's license
  • 3 years of experience in building maintenance, facilities operations, or any related field
  • Basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities
  • Familiarity with common hand tools and basic test equipment
  • Basic computer skills for work order systems and documentation
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow detailed procedures

Nice To Haves

  • EPA Section 608 Type I or II Refrigerant Certification
  • Vocational/Technical training in facilities maintenance, HVAC, or related field
  • Basic OSHA 10-hour construction safety certification
  • Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
  • Willingness to learn pharmaceutical industry standards and practices

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine building inspections and basic maintenance rounds under supervision
  • Assist with preventative maintenance tasks on HVAC equipment, lighting systems, and building infrastructure
  • Perform general facility maintenance including minor plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repairs
  • Support laboratory infrastructure maintenance including fume hoods, emergency eyewash stations, and safety equipment testing
  • Monitor building automation system alerts and report abnormal conditions to senior staff
  • Complete work orders and maintenance logs in the CMMS system accurately and timely
  • Strictly adhere to all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) protocols and pharmaceutical industry safety standards
