About The Position

The Facilities Technician supports the shipyard, adjacent areas, internal and external customers, while performing routine maintenance, ensuring the safety, functionality, and cleanliness of facilities

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • The ability to demonstrate high proficiency in these areas.
  • Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills are required
  • Ability to read and interpret documents and instructions
  • Ability to take directions and follow instructions
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly
  • Ability to work a variety of assignments and locations on a daily or hourly basis
  • Strong ability to be reliable, dependable, and work as a team
  • Follow oral and written instructions; maintain cooperative working relationships; demonstrate sensitivity to, and respect for a diverse population
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach with hands and arms, and climb stairs
  • Tasks include the need for hand finger dexterity, clear speech, hearing/listening, reading and writing, and lifting
  • Physical ability to lift, push, pull and carry 50+ lbs.
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, talk or hear
  • The vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Works in all areas of the shipyard, docks, and offices
  • Hearing warning signals and reading and comprehending safety instructions.
  • Must be able to maintain general safety awareness and avoid hazards commonly present in employee’s work area.

Responsibilities

  • Performing general and detailed maintenance, such as changing light bulbs, patching, hardware repairs, and manual repairs
  • Assisting laggers with organization of insulations materials, measuring cuts, applying insulation
  • Cleaning interior and exterior spaces, including floors, walls, windows, and doors. They may also clean restrooms, break rooms, and offices
  • Moving materials: Using equipment like forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks
  • Interacting with facilities managers, other maintenance staff, customers and crews, and company employees
  • Helps to maintains adequate custodial and breakroom supply stocks
  • Other duties as assigned
