The Facilities Technician is the heartbeat of the behind-the-scenes magic at SEA LIFE Michigan and Peppa Pig World of Play Michigan, keeping both attractions running smoothly, safely, and beautifully every single day! 🐠🐷✨ From maintaining life-support systems that protect our aquatic habitats to supporting the playful, high-energy spaces where families create memories, your work directly impacts every guest experience. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade certification preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of hands-on maintenance experience, ideally across carpentry, plumbing, painting, or general facilities repair.
  • Experience in large-scale environments such as schools, apartment complexes, or attractions strongly preferred.
  • Basic understanding of health and safety standards, with OSHA and scissor lift certifications a plus.
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and repair needs.
  • Positive, can-do attitude with a passion for creating safe, clean, and well-maintained environments for guests and colleagues alike.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot all areas of the attraction’s equipment and machinery, including HVAC, electrical, electronic, and plumbing systems.
  • Perform proactive maintenance and safety checks, including ladders, tools, and general building integrity.
  • Handle day-to-day repairs, including painting, drywall, lighting, AV, and general facility upkeep.
  • Conduct both planned and reactive maintenance to minimize downtime and enhance the guest experience.
  • Support exhibit setup and takedown, ensuring all displays and technical elements are safe and functional.
  • Operate power tools and equipment safely while following OSHA guidelines and PPE best practices.
  • Monitor building systems, identifying and correcting any hazards or maintenance needs.
  • Collaborate with vendors and other technicians to complete larger maintenance projects efficiently.
  • Assist with special projects and perform additional duties as assigned within the scope of the role.
