About The Position

To coordinate all family support component areas and parent involvement activities for center-based Early Childhood programs.

Requirements

  • BSW or BA in related field
  • 3+ years experience working with parents or community organization, supervisory exp. preferred, previous case management exp.
  • Must have 1) knowledge of Early Childhood Education and developmentally appropriate practices for infants and toddlers as well as experience with individualized and group lesson planning, 2) ability to work with diverse population including low-income families, 3) capacity to problem solve and handle crises, 4) willingness to work primarily in homes of low income families residing in high-risk communities, 5) strong interpersonal, organizational and communication (verbal and written) skills, 6) Knowledge of community resources, 7) computer skills including MS Office, and 8) reliable transportation, 9) ability to work independently and as part of a team, 10) ability to be empathetic, non-judgmental, respectful and professional, 11) flexibility.
  • Ability to hear the conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid, the ability to see and read newsprint with or without corrective lenses, to speak and be understood under normal circumstances.
  • Must be able to drive including getting into and out of vehicle frequently and sitting for brief periods of time, ability to climb stairs, bend and lift and reach.
  • Ability to function within guidelines of Agency’s core values, identification with Agency mission, ability to build consensus, develop relationships and motivate employees.
  • Requires hands-on manager with ability to solve problems.
  • Must be intelligent, diplomatic, and analytical with sound judgment and a sense of humor.
  • High integrity a must.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise (including interviewing, hiring, training and evaluating) Family Support Specialists to ensure a fully functioning and effective team.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings and participate in other meetings as necessary.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of staff training and development plans and preservice/inservice trainings to support the delivery of services to children and families.
  • Oversee the development of family partnerships.
  • Provide expertise and advice to other staff, coordinators and clients in the areas of social services and case management.
  • Implement and oversee a tracking system for social service referral follow-up.
  • Conduct regular file reviews to ensure that documentation is up-to-date and consistently meets all requirements.
  • Coordinate department and Agency family workgroup meetings.
  • Carry out Family Support duties in absence of Family Support Specialist.
  • Work with other coordinators and managers to provide seamless delivery of intake services to families.
  • Oversee and ensure meaningful goal setting, consistant follow up, case management and overall well being of all families.
  • Oversee all parent involvement efforts including the planning and implementation of family events reflective of parent interests.
  • Oversee fatherhood initiatives.
  • Schedule center parent committee meetings.
  • Track volunteer hours to meet requirements for in-kind budget.
  • Oversee all data entry (ChildPlus, Steps, PIR) and reporting (School Readiness, Child Day Care, monthly reports) to ensure timeliness and accuracy.
  • Track attendance in accordance with Head Start standards and report average daily attendance to the Director.
  • Assist in the development and updating of appropriate component plans in compliance with federal performance standards.
  • Assist with Policy Council activities.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
