About The Position

Commdex is seeking a Fiber Construction Coordinator to support and oversee day-to-day fiber construction activities in the Irving, TX area. This role is responsible for coordinating field operations, monitoring construction progress, managing materials and inventory, and ensuring fiber network builds are executed in accordance with approved engineering designs, permits, and customer standards. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 5+ years of experience in telecommunications or CATV OSP construction, including fiber infrastructure.
  • Strong working knowledge of Telecom, Fiber, Wireless, and HFC construction principles.
  • Experience with fiber builds such as node splits, plant extensions, and building entrance facilities.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and fiber design requirements.
  • Proficiency with construction and project systems (e.g., Sitetracker, Orca, ACAS, PRISM).
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment background and drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and monitor daily field construction activities for fiber network projects.
  • Oversee in-house crews and subcontractors to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to plan.
  • Conduct on-site monitoring of crews and progress against schedules.
  • Ensure construction activities align with engineering drawings, permits, and design specifications.
  • Inspect fiber network construction to confirm readiness for launch.
  • Coordinate access, right-of-way (ROW), and permitting requirements with city and utility entities.
  • Represent Commdex in field meetings with city inspectors, utility representatives, and other stakeholders as required.
  • Support joint-trenching, pole applications, and make-ready coordination.
  • Manage all construction-related materials and yard inventory.
  • Receive materials from vendors, track inventory levels, and issue materials to crews and business partners.
  • Anticipate material needs and place orders to avoid construction delays.
  • Ensure appropriate equipment and materials are available on-site.
  • Interpret fiber engineering drawings and construction plans.
  • Utilize Google Earth Pro, including KMZ/KML files, to review and depict fiber routes and underground facilities.
  • Receive and track design packages and permits from engineering.
  • Capture and document daily production, work progress, and construction activities.
  • Ensure construction execution is consistent with approved engineering plans.
  • Assist with estimating construction costs, budgets, and expense tracking.
  • Support invoice review and processing for in-house and subcontractor work.
  • Coordinate customer implementation activities, including site walk-throughs and node placements.
  • Assign daily tasks and priorities to crews under supervision.
  • Actively participate in team meetings and contribute to problem-solving discussions.
  • Collaborate closely with construction management, engineering, and operations teams to meet project milestones.
