As an Engineering Design Consultant at Fibersmith, you’ll play a vital role in designing, maintaining, and optimizing fiber and wireless networks. You’ll work with a collaborative team to collect and analyze data, generate detailed project reports, and ensure that our network designs consistently meet the highest standards. Nice To Haves

Familiarity with CAD, Arc, or SQL
Understanding of Bills of Materials, Engineering Change Notices, or similar documentation

Demonstrated experience balancing budgets and conducting cost analysis
A background or coursework in engineering, mapping, or related fields

Responsibilities

Develop new fiber and wireless construction designs.
Refine existing designs to balance cost-effectiveness and performance.
Enter and update features, data, and connections in GIS software.
Prepare, generate, and update reports on project status and plant records.
Maintain files, designs, and drawings in Fibersmith’s document management system.
Adhere to all Fibersmith standards, as outlined in employee training.
Assist with Bills of Materials, Engineering Change Notices, or similar documentation.
Generate field maps for use during staking and inspection.
Gather data on points of interest—such as poles, foreign utilities, or other infrastructure—to inform design.
Travel up to 10–15% for site visits, industry events, and more.
Work within a team environment, collaborating with consultants and senior consultants.
Remain adaptable to shifting priorities and requirements.
Keep up with the latest industry trends, products, and technologies.
Provide ideas for process improvements and network enhancements.
Other duties as required to support project success.
