About The Position

TEKsystems is in need of multiple Fiber Splicing Technicians for our client in the Ashburn, VA market! This company is a national technology service provider leading the way with critical infrastructure and digital transformation. They support customers with structured cabling, data center services, cybersecurity, physical security, and managed support services for MSPs, data center organizations, educational systems, commercial clients, etc. This company has won a large, multi-phase project with a Data Center helping stand up their critical infrastructure where they will be providing the fiber backbone and distribution across three floors by pulling/landing 6, 912-fiber trunks through pathways to AFL splice frames. Phase 1 on this project is set to start mid-february and they are looking for qualified ISP fiber splicers to come join their team! They are looking for 4 ISP fiber splicers with 2 of those fiber splicers having lead experience. The leads should have at least 2 years of leadership experience, site pictures, PM reporting, customer facing, QC/QA, etc. The ISP fiber splicers should be able to but not limited to ribbon splicing, mass fusion splicing, 12-16 strand fusion, trunk routing, PDRs, LIUs, pigtail terminations, rack preparation (45U racks/Corning 4U enclosures), splicing MPO pigtails, 6,912/864f base-12to base-8, labeling, reporting, testing/troubleshooting, bonding/grounding, etc. The splicers should be open to working in teams and stand alone environments while the leads should be comfortable overseeing up to 8 splicers at a time. Right now first shift 7am-7pm is the top priority but they will also have second shift available 7pm-7am (clock starts once onsite, should be open to working up to 12 hour days). Reporting to the same site everyday (address in req is site location). PPE is required including hard hat with chin strap, cut-resistant gloves, glasses, and vest. (must acquire, is not provided)

  • Prepare racks and patching by installing Rittal 45U racks and Corning 4U enclosures.
  • On the front end, build PDRs with LIUs, ribbonize and prep 6,912 and 864f base-12 to base-8, and splice to MPO-8 pigtails.
  • Label and document all cables, frames, and panels, test end-to-end using Oracle/TIA methods, and bond/ground all racks, frames, and trays.
