Job Summary Marine fiberglass technicians play an essential part in the marine industry. This role is responsible for a variety of tasks related to the repair and maintenance of marine vessels. The ideal candidate will be able to perform highly complex lamination and repair of fiberglass, hulls, pilot houses, and other assemblies. Requirements

  • Experience: Two (2) years’ experience or the equivalent combined years of experience and education.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift between 25 and 60 lbs.
  • Certifications: Coursework in composites, woods, and/or metals preferred.
  • Pre-Employment: All applicants must be able to successfully pass a background check as a condition of employment.
  • Must bring a positive attitude and be a proven team player.
  • Continuous mental and visual attention on an intermittent basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Solid understanding of gel coats and application techniques a plus!

Responsibilities

  • Preparation: Prepare fiberglass, resins, and damaged areas for repair.
  • Repair: Perform structural and cosmetic fiberglass repairs, including the application of epoxy, polyester, and gelcoat resins.
  • Detail-Oriented Work: Craft, cut, trim, sand, and grind various surfaces and substrates.
  • Knowledge of Resins: Understand the type of resin and catalyst used and accurately measure amount for saturation and adhesion.
  • Quality Control: Provide high-quality repairs. Maintain a clean and organized work environment. All duties as assigned.
  • Safety Compliance: Following safety policies and guidelines, including the use of vacuum bags and vacuum pumps.
