The Investments Finance team plays a critical role in supporting Nationwide’s Investment organization by providing financial planning support for the company's growing portfolio of assets. This role partners closely with investment leaders, finance partners, and a wide variety of key stakeholders to ensure accurate expense management and effective budgeting and forecasting reporting. This Consultant role supports all expense planning processes for the general accounts of Nationwide’s Investment department as well as Nationwide Asset Management (NWAM) clients, helping ensure financial discipline, strong governance, and reliable insights across a complex investment environment. The position will work with teams across all investment operations, including Front Office, Data Governance, Risk Management, Real Estate, IT, and others, and will require managing client-facing financial reporting, and enterprise-level financial processes, making it well-suited for professionals who enjoy combining analytical rigor with business partnership. As an Advisor, you'll provide financial consultation, planning and analysis for a major business operations (state, product, business unit, etc.). This includes coordinating the development of operational forecasts and budgets and reporting on financial income, loss and expense measures. You'll serve as a key member of leadership team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field
  • Experience in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, expense management, or reporting, preferably within investments, asset management, or a complex financial organization
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and translate it into clear, actionable insights
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders and balancing competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment
  • Proficiency with financial systems, reporting tools, and Excel; comfort working with large data sets
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to data accuracy
  • Typically, eight or more years financial experience including financial analysis, planning, forecasting, actuarial or auditing.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and statutory accounting practices and insurance/financial services business requirements.
  • Project management concepts and techniques.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree in financial field is desirable.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Insurance industry background desirable.
  • Prefer at least three years project leadership, management or supervisor experience.
  • Prefer familiarity with specific state, product or business unit operations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and support expense management processes for Nationwide’s Investment department general accounts and NWAM clients
  • Coordinate and maintain budgeting and forecasting activities, ensuring alignment with business objectives and investment strategies
  • Prepare, analyze, and deliver financial reports that provide clear visibility into investment-related expenses and performance scorecarding
  • Support new business planning efforts including providing financial analysis on expense allocations between existing and emerging asset classes and within Investment teams
  • Makes effective decisions in a timely manner within the context of own objectives with a view to seeking opportunities outside normal objective boundaries; seeks to understand how decisions can have an effect on other areas.
  • Searches for ways to make existing processes more efficient while driving quality outcomes
