About The Position

Hermeus is a high-speed aircraft manufacturer focused on the rapid design, build, and test of high-Mach and hypersonic aircraft for the national interest. Working directly with the Department of Defense, Hermeus delivers capabilities that will ensure that our nation, and our allies, maintain an asymmetric advantage over any and all potential adversaries. As a Flight Software Intern, you will support the design and implementation of mission systems for uncrewed high-speed aircraft. You will work with the A-GRA (OMS/UCI) framework to help develop interoperable systems and messaging architectures. Summer: around 10 weeks (May - August) Fall: Around 16 weeks (September - December)

Requirements

  • Pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Entry level experience of C++, C, or other embedded programming languages.
  • Experience with working with hardware integrations and embedded computers (Raspberry PIs, arduinos, STM32s).
  • Strong understanding of engineering first principles
  • Demonstrated ability to work within cross-functional teams
  • Interest in mission systems, autonomy, or aerospace systems integration
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • GPA of 3.0 or above
  • The person hired will have access to information and items subject to U.S. export controls, and therefore, must either be a “U.S. person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.62 or otherwise eligible for deemed export licensing. US persons include U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, lawful permanent residents (green card holders), and asylees and refugees with such status granted, not pending.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design and implementation of systems using A-GRA (OMS/UCI) for uncrewed high-speed aircraft
  • Assist in developing and integrating messaging systems that enable communication between mission subsystems
  • Work with messaging standards, protocols, and APIs to support system interoperability
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to test, validate, and refine mission system interfaces and integrations
