How will you make an impact? We are searching for an energetic Technical Sales Specialist ready to join our Thermo Fisher team! This role is responsible for the technical sales and related support activities for flow cytometry analyzers and cell sorters in specified academic, government and industrial accounts in the Western US. This role balances prospecting for new opportunities, demonstrating flow cytometry equipment, and participation in local scientific shows and events. We have TWO amazing openings (tied to this requisition) One managing the Southern California territory & One managing the Seattle territory. What will you do: The instrument portfolio contains innovative, high-quality flow cytometry instrumentation. Our business unit serves researchers worldwide, accelerating the process of scientific discovery with a strong focus on the areas of applied markets, cellular immunity and oncology. In this role you will be responsible for:

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology or related field required, preferred M.Sc. or PhD
  • 5 years of technical experience in relevant scientific instrumentation, laboratory products, or life sciences field
  • Strong background in flow cytometry with a basic understanding of cell sorting
  • Hands-on experience in a research laboratory setting preferred, or previous sales experience selling instrumentation
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, with ability to explain complex technical concepts
  • Strong understanding of laboratory workflows and customer requirements
  • Demonstrated success in meeting or exceeding sales targets preferred
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a matrix environment
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Success in working and driving business growth across business functions
  • Ability to travel overnight up to 25% of the time
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • Able to lift 50 lbs. independently
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications
  • Knowledge of CRM systems like Sales Force
  • Understanding of the sales funnel and how to move sales forward in a changing environment
  • Can-do demeanor and highly motivated to win sales and take share from competitors

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrating selling success in the area of flow cytometers with a primary focus on analyzers and cell sorters
  • Displaying an acute awareness of the life science marketplace, particularly within flow cytometry, its trends, and our competitors
  • Drive sales opportunities, including providing information on product capabilities and technical specifications, as well as instrument demonstrations
  • Attend and participate in sales meetings, seminars and trade shows
