About The Position

Preble Street’s Food Services Programs help meet the nutritional needs of our community members through our Food Security Hub, Mobile Food Services, Food Pantry, and shelter-based meal service sites. Preble Street has adapted how it provides food services to effectively meet the food needs of people experiencing homelessness and food insecurity—and our team of food services professionals work together in our innovative Food Programs toward achieving our goals to address and end hunger in our communities. Preble Street’s Food Programs has a full-time Dishwasher/Prep Cook position available to work as part of the collaborative team at the Food Security Hub. This position supports the Chefs and Sous Chefs in delivering high-quality food services consistent with the agency’s mission. Responsibilities include food preparation and packaging, dishwashing, maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment, and opening or closing the kitchen as needed. The Food Programs Dishwasher/Prep Cook also trains and guides volunteers working in the kitchen. This is a full-time (40 hours/week), first-shift position. Candidates may choose from one of the following schedules: Tuesday – Saturday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM or Sunday – Thursday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Requirements

  • Consistent, reliable attendance at work as scheduled is required

Nice To Haves

  • 1-3 years’ experience in commercial or institutional foodservice, or other relevant culinary experience
