About The Position

Responsible for providing front-of-house customer service, order processing, and food service support for the Tribe’s Food Truck or retail kitchen operations. This position manages customer interactions, point-of-sale transactions, and order coordination to support efficient kitchen operations. Incumbents work closely with the Line Cook and Lead Line Cook to ensure orders are entered accurately, prepared efficiently, and delivered to customers in a timely manner. The position helps maintain a positive customer experience while supporting a safe, clean, and organized food service environment. Based on operational needs, incumbents in this position may also be assigned to work in either the food truck or retail kitchen operations based on operational needs, allowing management flexibility to ensure appropriate staffing coverage. The incumbents are expected to work in accordance with the mission, purpose, and values of the Colusa Indian Community Council. Please note these positions are to staff the Tribe’s food trucks and have multiple vacancies, both for full-time and part-time positions. These positions require flexible food service hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and community or entertainment-related events. Schedule flexibility is required.

Requirements

  • Previous cashier, customer service, or food service experience preferred.
  • Must be 21 years of age at the time of appointment, for those hired to serve alcoholic beverages.
  • Must possess and maintain a Food Handlers Card or SERV Safe certification within the Tribe’s designated timeframe.
  • Valid California driver’s license.
  • Must have the ability to work a changing schedule, including nights, holidays, and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Greet customers promptly and provide friendly and professional customer service
  • Explain menu items, daily specials, and available add-ons to customers
  • Accurately take customer orders and enter them into the point-of-sale (POS) system
  • Coordinate with the Line Cook and Lead Line Cook to ensure orders are prepared accurately and efficiently
  • Receive and process cash, debit, and credit card transactions accurately
  • Balance and maintain accountability for the cash drawer during assigned shifts
  • Assemble food orders and verify order accuracy before serving customers
  • Serve food items to customers in a courteous and timely manner
  • Maintain service counter areas including condiments, napkins, utensils, and beverage stations
  • Assist with light food preparation tasks as directed by kitchen staff
  • Support kitchen staff during high-volume service periods as needed
  • Set up tables, chairs, service stations, and customer seating areas for food truck events or service locations
  • Assist with food truck setup and breakdown, including equipment, serving areas, and supplies
  • Help organize food service areas for festivals, community events, and special gatherings
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of service areas and food truck windows
  • Follow all tribal, state, and Indian Health Services food safety regulations
  • Assist with inventory monitoring and notify management when supplies are low
  • Communicate customer concerns or operational issues to management
  • May assist with food preparation, stocking, or customer service duties within Tribal retail food service locations, including the Wintun Mini-Mart as assigned:
  • Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotions, policies regarding payment, exchanges and returns, and security practices
  • Instruct customers on how to use self-serve equipment as needed
  • Communicate with management regarding guest or vendor requests or concerns
  • May perform other duties commensurate with the functions and level of the position
