About The Position

Start your journey towards success! This position will be primary located at 539 Roberts Chapel Road in Stem NC. This position will report to Joint Force Headquarters in Raleigh, NC for 3-4 months. The primary responsibility for this position is to serve as the organizational expert regarding forestry and fire management for a statewide Environmental Program. The employee performs professional, multidisciplinary work in forestry, prescribed fire, and wildland fire management. The employee reports to the Director of Environmental Management, and serves as the primary point of contact for environmental issues pertaining to forestry and fire for North Carolina Army National Guard (NCARNG) facilities statewide, National Guard Bureau (NGB), and other Federal and state agencies. The employee serves as the program manager for the following closely related activities: Natural Resources, Integrated Training Area Management (ITAM), Invasive Species, Forestry Management Plan, Integrated Wildland Fire Management Plan, Prescribe Fire, & Fire Training. The nature of the position requires independent research and data accumulation for a wide variety of regulatory protocols and environmental management issues, analysis of complex regulatory issues, problem identification and resolution, and decision making with the coordination of multiple personnel and agencies. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits, including paid vacation, paid sick leave, paid holidays, retirement, and health insurance. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in one of the agricultural, biological, engineering, environmental or natural resource sciences or a closely related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Federal or State Enivronmental Laws, Regulations, and Policies.
  • Experience Planning and Coordinating with Federal or State agencies on Forestry and Fire Management Matters.
  • Experience Executing Integrated Forestry, Invasive Species, or Wildland Fire Management Programs.
