Home Finder Position Summary: The Home Finder is primarily responsible for the recruitment, training, certification, and retention activities for the foster parents and kinship foster parents in Onondaga and Oswego counties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience working in a related human services field.
  • Must have a valid New York State driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
  • Demonstrated capacity to comprehend and effectively deliver the designated curriculum to prospective foster parents and kinship caregivers.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and relate to the experiences and emotions of children in foster care and their families, consistently showing sensitivity, insight, and supportive engagement.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive, trust-based relationships with children, foster families, and multidisciplinary professionals within the foster care system.
  • strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • the ability to work independently and with flexibility in days and hours of work
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with therapeutic foster care is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides and tracks foster parent trainings.
  • Develops and implements innovative recruitment and retention strategies.
  • Identify additional resources and/or training needed to ensure the foster/kinship parents are capable and confident in addressing the needs of youth in foster or kinship care.
  • Maintains and updates electronic and hard copy case records.
  • Provides up to date foster parent curriculum and completes the certification for new foster homes, as well as the recertification of existing foster homes.
