The Role We're looking for a Founding Mobile Engineer to own and define the mobile experience at Nectar. This isn't a role where you inherit an existing codebase and make incremental improvements. You'll architect the mobile platform from the ground up, make foundational technical decisions, and ship features that put AI-powered social commerce directly in the hands of brand teams. You'll have significant autonomy and direct influence over product direction. Requirements

5+ years of software engineering experience, with deep expertise in React Native
Track record of shipping production mobile apps with high quality and performance
Strong understanding of mobile architecture, navigation patterns, state management, and platform-specific considerations
Experience integrating with external APIs and building real-time, data-intensive features
Comfortable working across the stack when needed; you're not blocked waiting for backend changes
Startup mentality: high ownership, bias toward action, comfortable with ambiguity
Strong product sense; you think about what to build, not just how to build it

Nice To Haves

Experience with native iOS/Android development or bridging native modules
Background in social media, e-commerce, or commerce platforms (Shopify experience is a plus)
Experience with LLMs, AI agents, or ML-powered features in production
Previous founding or early-stage startup experience
Open source contributions or notable side projects

Responsibilities

Own the mobile platform end-to-end: Architect, build, and ship our React Native application across iOS and Android. You'll make the foundational decisions that define how we build mobile for years to come.
Ship AI-powered features: Build intelligent interfaces that surface insights, power real-time agent interactions, and bring our AI capabilities to mobile.
Define mobile infrastructure: Establish architecture patterns, shared components, testing strategies, CI/CD pipelines, and performance standards.
Integrate across the stack: Work with social platform APIs (TikTok, Meta, Instagram), e-commerce systems (Shopify), and our backend services to deliver seamless experiences.
Collaborate with product and design: Partner closely with founders, product, and design to shape what we build and how we build it.
Set the bar for quality: Implement monitoring, error tracking, and performance optimization. Ship stable, fast, polished experiences.
