About The Position

Shure offers a challenging, fun and rewarding summer internship program. The twelve-week program is offered to undergraduate and graduate students. We offer internships with a variety of work arrangements from onsite interns to fully remote in US. Each intern will receive a competitive salary. Additionally, Interns who are asked to relocate to Illinois for onsite internships will receive a housing stipend to cover living expenses. Applications will be collected, reviewed, and selected candidates will be contacted in late fall/early winter. The FPGA Design Engineering Intern will help develop and implement FPGA designs under the direction of a senior staff member. In this position you will gain exposure to the FPGA development cycle: architecture, HDL entry, synthesis, place and route, verification and test-benching. You will also perform system level and FPGA tests on circuit boards utilized in wireless communication systems. This job requires you to work as part of a cross-functional development team to design and implement cutting edge audio products and technology. The job requires you to estimate, organize and document development tasks, practice solid design methodologies and procedures, and other duties as assigned. This Internship is Hybrid, based in our Niles, IL location.

Requirements

  • Must have completed two years of coursework in Electrical Engineering or related area.
  • Basic understanding of FPGA development cycle and familiarity with VHDL or Verilog.
  • Experience with FPGA tools Xilinx Vivado or Intel Quartus
  • Knowledge of digital logic circuits, embedded controllers, DSP concepts and memory types.
  • Experience with Python programming language.
  • Basic knowledge of audio or wireless communications.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment
  • Quality conscious

  • Participate in all phases of FPGA development, including:
  • Architecture design
  • HDL (Hardware Description Language) coding
  • Synthesis
  • Place and route
  • Verification
  • Testbench creation and debugging
  • Conduct system-level and FPGA-specific testing on a variety of audio products, such as:
  • Microphones
  • Wireless microphone systems
  • Signal processors
  • Personal monitoring devices
