Basic Job Functions:The role of the Galvanizing Line Inspector include, but is not limited to, measuring strip dimensions, checking strip coating weight and iron content, checking material hardness, and visually inspecting the surface of the strip for defects. Additionally, they will have a leadership role in process improvement in the inspection area, and other duties. Candidates must be flexible to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime, day shifts, night shifts, holidays and weekends. As the construction phase progresses, the shift may change to a 4 on and 4 off schedule. Nucor Steel West Virginia’s greenfield project is a new state-of-the-art sheet steel mill that will produce up to 3 million tons per year once fully operational. This advanced manufacturing facility is to be located in Mason County, along the Ohio River in close proximity to both Huntington and Charleston, WV. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate theability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in an inspection-related role with direct quality experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience with exposed galvanized automotive products.
  • Candidates must be flexible to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime, day shifts, night shifts, holidays and weekends.
  • candidates must be able to demonstrate theability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Nice To Haves

  • Operation knowledge of overhead crane and fork truck.
  • Knowledge of coil quality requirements.
  • Prior Galvanizing Line experience or surface quality inspection.
