About The Position

The Line Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all assembled components, kitted and manufactured materials, and finished products meet established quality standards. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining product integrity by conducting detailed inspections, testing, and documenting production output. The Line Inspector works closely with assemblers, machine operators, and supervisors to identify, report, and correct issues before products advance to the next stage of manufacturing or shipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One to two years of experience in manufacturing, production, or quality inspection preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions, technical drawings, or part specifications.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and documentation.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Basic understanding of quality control procedures.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods while performing inspections.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and visual acuity for detailed work.
  • Ability to lift and carry boxes or components weighing up to 35–40 lbs.
  • Ability to bend, reach, and handle small parts and tools safely.
  • Ability to operate conveyor controls when needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with electronic components or small-part assembly is a plus.
  • Background in production or assembly line work is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Inspection and Quality Control Perform visual and dimensional inspections of components, subassemblies, and finished kits to verify compliance with quality and specification requirements.
  • Inspect unwrapped reams of copy paper for misaligned or defective sheets to ensure they meet required standards before wrapping. Ensure all reams are in satisfactory condition before packaging. Weigh and rework unacceptable reams to meet product standards.
  • Verify part counts, labels, and packaging accuracy for all kitted materials.
  • Inspect for defects such as misalignment, incorrect assembly, damaged components, or contamination.
  • Utilize measuring tools, gauges, and testing equipment as required.
  • Operate conveyor controls when needed to maintain proper workflow.
  • Documentation and Reporting Accurately record inspection data on production or quality forms, both electronically and in print.
  • Report any defects, non-conformances, or process issues to the machine operator or supervisor to ensure timely corrective actions.
  • Support internal audits, quality reviews, and continuous improvement activities as required.
  • Collaboration & Improvement Collaborate with other team members to enhance overall product quality and safety in all processes.
  • Recommend improvements to inspection procedures or production methods to improve product consistency and efficiency.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe inspection area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
