About The Position

This position is responsible for controlling the gas flows and pressures for the BWP pipelines in a safe, reliable, and efficient manner while satisfying customer needs, regulatory requirements, contractual obligations, and company policies. Responsibilities will include: Participating in planning, scheduling and implementing facility outages, shutdowns and start-ups to maintain system pressure and volume. Starting and stopping compressor units to maintain desired flow conditions in conjunction with fuel efficiency objectives. Setting appropriate operating pressure and volume limits for compressor stations and remotely controlled regulators. Monitoring and responding to system alarms/alerts and notifying affected internal parties to make appropriate operational changes and/or schedule repairs.Acknowledging and responding to all operational information received from field personnel on a daily and hourly basis. Coordinating with scheduling personnel to manage flow restrictions and imbalances. Assisting in making decisions regarding gas rerouting during emergencies and the impact of weather forecasts on the system. Communicating with external parties during normal to extreme operating conditions and effectively interfacing internally as needed for specific conditions.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical skills to use information available from numerous sources
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work in a professional manner with all levels of customers and company personnel
  • Ability to make decisions in stressful situations
  • Ability to effectively utilize a personal computer and related software
  • Ability to operate on a 24 hour, 365 days a year swing shift
  • Must work toward DOT skill requirements of "Operator Qualification" which is essential for being able to work scheduled shifts
  • Position is considered as meeting the "essential personnel" criteria during emergency situations such as severe weather

  • Knowledge of the electronic flow measurement and scheduling systems
