About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated General Cleaner to maintain the beauty and hygiene of our historic campus in Chatham, VA. As a key member of our facilities team, you’ll ensure that our classrooms, dormitories, and common areas remain a safe and welcoming environment for our school community.

Requirements

• Previous cleaning or janitorial experience is a plus, but we are willing to train someone with a strong work ethic.
• Punctuality is essential, as our campus relies on early morning prep before students arrive.
• Must be able to pass a background check (standard for all school employees).
• A positive, professional demeanor and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Must be able to remain on your feet for extended periods and lift up to 35 lbs.
• Monday – Friday, 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM.
• 40 hours per week.
• While this is primarily a weekday role, occasional weekend shifts are required during the school year to support special campus events and academic schedules.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, and vacuum across campus buildings.
• Thoroughly clean and disinfect restrooms, locker rooms, and high-touch surfaces.
• Empty trash and recycling bins daily; ensure proper disposal of materials.
• Dust furniture, wipe down windows, and maintain clean entryways.
• Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the Facilities Manager immediately.
