About The Position

Ross Mortgage Company is seeking a disciplined and detail-oriented General Ledger Accountant to join our corporate accounting team in Troy, MI. This role is focused on maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of the General Ledger, reconciliations, financial reporting, and close activities. The ideal candidate has strong technical accounting skills, excellent reconciliation discipline, and a commitment to producing clean, audit-ready financials. This is a mid-level accounting role with no managerial responsibilities, ideal for a junior-to-mid-level professional looking to deepen their experience in mortgage accounting. This position is in-office at our Corporate Headquarters in Troy, MI.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 2–4 years of experience in General Ledger accounting, reconciliations, or financial reporting.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel (e.g., PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and reconciliation-oriented formulas).
  • Experience with accounting software such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Loan Vision, or similar systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in all work performed.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly document findings and explain account activity.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, record, and post daily journal entries into the General Ledger.
  • Perform accurate and timely bank reconciliations (daily, weekly, and monthly).
  • Reconcile General Ledger accounts by loan, branch, department, and employee.
  • Own the accuracy and integrity of the General Ledger, ensuring all balances are fully supported and audit-ready.
  • Investigate, document, and resolve discrepancies or unusual activity in financial data.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, including accruals, reconciliations, and preparation of supporting schedules.
  • Prepare and assist with the analysis of financial reports, including basic variance analysis against budget or prior periods.
  • Maintain and update accounting records, documentation, and internal control support in compliance with company policies and GAAP.
  • Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and support external auditors with requested documentation.
  • Collaborate with accounting leadership and team members to improve workflows, strengthen controls, and enhance the quality and timeliness of reporting.
  • Provide general accounting support and assist with ad hoc financial projects as assigned.
