About The Position

The General Superintendent is the senior field leader responsible for the consistent, disciplined execution of all RMSS field operations. This role is accountable not only for what work gets done, but for how it gets done and who is developed in the process. The General Superintendent is expected to lead through others by setting clear standards, mentoring field leadership, and strengthening operational discipline across all work types. Success in this role is measured by safety performance, execution consistency, leadership bench strength, and the ability to reduce operational risk through proactive field leadership. This position serves as a critical bridge between field operations and company leadership, translating strategy into execution while developing the next level of field leaders.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop Superintendents, Foremen, Lead Technicians, and field personnel
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to set expectations, hold teams accountable, and coach for improvement
  • Deep understanding of utility construction means, methods, sequencing, and service-related field work
  • Proven ability to standardize field practices and improve consistency across multiple crews and work types
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in fast-paced field environments
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, schedules, and service documentation
  • Proficiency with field technology, reporting tools, and standard construction software
  • Minimum of 10–15 years of experience in utility construction or related infrastructure work, with progressive field leadership responsibility
  • Proven experience leading and mentoring Superintendents, Foremen, or senior field personnel
  • Demonstrated success improving field performance, safety outcomes, and leadership capability
  • Experience overseeing multiple concurrent work streams or operating environments
  • OSHA 30 certification required (or ability to obtain)
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regularly between job sites
  • Regular field presence required on active construction sites and service locations
  • Ability to walk job sites, climb ladders, and navigate uneven terrain
  • Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Exposure to outdoor conditions, including heat, cold, noise, dust, and construction environments

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership and oversight of all RMSS field operations, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in alignment with company standards, budgets, and client expectations
  • Plan, coordinate, and optimize manpower, equipment, and materials across active projects and service work to maximize productivity and responsiveness
  • Monitor work progress and proactively address issues related to schedule, cost, quality, safety, or customer impact
  • Ensure field execution aligns with construction plans, specifications, service agreements, and established operating procedures
  • Maintain consistent safety leadership across all field activities, enforcing company safety programs, OSHA requirements, and site-specific safety plans
  • Conduct regular field visits to inspect work quality, safety practices, documentation, and crew or technician performance
  • Support cost control through labor efficiency, equipment utilization, and early identification of scope or condition changes
  • Coordinate schedules, priorities, and workload forecasting in partnership with operations leadership and project management
  • Serve as a senior field resource for complex technical issues, troubleshooting, and execution challenges
  • Establish and reinforce consistent standards for quality, professionalism, communication, and accountability across all field work
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance guidance to Superintendents, Foremen, Lead Technicians, and field personnel
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, training, and development of field staff to build bench strength and support succession planning
  • Act as a key liaison between field operations, Project Management, Safety, Fleet, and Executive Leadership
  • Provide regular operational updates, insights, and risk awareness to the Director of Operations
  • Ensure consistent application of company policies, procedures, and expectations across all RMSS field operations
