About The Position

Job Summary: The General Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all field operations across asphalt and concrete construction projects within the Arizona and New Mexico division. This role provides senior-level leadership to superintendents, foremen, and field crews to ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in compliance with quality standards, specifications, and company policies. The General Superintendent acts as the primary bridge between field operations, project management, and executive leadership, driving production, workforce performance, equipment utilization, and continuous improvement across the division. This role will be vital to support all services which will include but not limited to Paving, Milling, Striping, Concrete, Infrared Patching, and Sealcoat. Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities: Field Operations & Leadership Provide direct oversight and leadership to Superintendents, Foremen, and field crews across asphalt paving, concrete, grading, and related operations Set expectations for production rates, crew performance, quality standards, and safety compliance Ensure consistent execution of company processes, best practices, and standard operating procedures across all jobsites Lead by example with a strong field presence across AZ & NM projects Project Execution & Performance Collaborate with Project Managers to plan work, sequencing, manpower needs, and equipment utilization Monitor project schedules and proactively address risks impacting production, quality, or timelines Assist in resolving complex field issues, constructability challenges, and scope conflicts Support project closeout activities, including punch lists, quality verification, and final inspections Safety & Compliance Enforce company safety programs and OSHA/MSHA requirements across all jobsites Conduct site visits, safety audits, and field coaching to reinforce a strong safety culture Investigate incidents and near misses; implement corrective actions and preventative measures Ensure compliance with state, local, and client-specific safety requirements Workforce Development Mentor and develop Superintendents, Foremen, and key field leaders Identify training needs and support skill development, succession planning, and leadership growth Assist with workforce planning, crew assignments, and performance evaluations Promote accountability, professionalism, and teamwork throughout the division Equipment & Resource Management Coordinate with equipment and fleet teams to ensure availability, maintenance, and proper utilization Monitor equipment performance and downtime; recommend improvements or replacements Ensure materials, tools, and resources are aligned with production schedules Communication & Reporting Serve as a key operational liaison between field teams, project management, and executive leadership Provide regular updates on production, staffing, safety, and operational challenges Participate in planning meetings, pre-construction reviews, and post-project evaluations Qualifications (Experience, Education & Certifications, Key Attributes): To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in asphalt and/or concrete construction
  • 5+ years in a senior field leadership role (Superintendent or General Superintendent level)
  • Strong understanding of asphalt paving, concrete placement, grading, and heavy civil/site work
  • Proven ability to manage multiple crews and projects simultaneously
  • Deep knowledge of construction safety standards and field operations best practices
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel extensively throughout Arizona and New Mexico

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing operations across multiple states or regions
  • Strong leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and schedules
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
