About the Role: Grade Level (for internal use): 12 The Role: The US Immigration & Global Mobility Lead owns the design, oversight, and operational governance of the U.S. immigration and global mobility framework. The role ensures: U.S. immigration activities comply with federal regulations and audit standards International employee transfers are executed in alignment with country-specific legal and tax requirements External vendors and counsel operate within defined service levels, escalation protocols, and quality controls The role partners closely with HR, Legal, and business leaders to balance compliance, talent movement, and business enablement. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; JD, Paralegal certification, or equivalent legal training strongly preferred.
  • Typically 8+ years of experience in U.S. immigration, global mobility, or employment law–adjacent HR roles.
  • Deep working knowledge of U.S. immigration law and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience coordinating global immigration or mobility programs across multiple countries.
  • Experience operating in a vendor-led immigration model within a multinational organization.
  • Strong legal reasoning and ability to assess risk, precedent, and compliance exposure.
  • Experience partnering with Legal, outside counsel, and regulated vendors.
  • Highly organized with strong documentation and case governance discipline.
  • Comfortable advising senior leaders and HR partners on complex regulatory matters.

Responsibilities

  • U.S. Immigration Governance & Compliance Act as the primary internal authority on U.S. immigration policy, compliance standards, and risk thresholds.
  • Oversee all U.S. employment-based immigration programs (e.g., H-1B, L-1, TN, O-1, PERM, I-9/E-Verify compliance).
  • Partner with external immigration counsel to ensure filings, documentation, and case strategies meet regulatory and audit requirements.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and assess impact; translate updates into practical policy and process guidance.
  • Lead responses to audits, RFEs, investigations, or compliance inquiries in partnership with Legal and outside counsel.
  • Global Mobility & Cross-Border Transfers Govern global mobility activities, including international transfers, relocations, and assignments, ensuring alignment with local immigration, employment, and tax requirements.
  • Provide advisory guidance on country-to-country transfer feasibility, risk considerations, and policy implications.
  • Partner with HR Business Partners, Legal, Tax, and vendors to coordinate compliant global movements.
  • Support development and maintenance of mobility policies, eligibility frameworks, and approval standards.
  • Vendor & Outside Counsel Management Serve as the primary relationship owner for immigration and mobility vendors and external legal counsel.
  • Define service level expectations, escalation paths, and quality controls.
  • Review vendor performance, metrics, and compliance outcomes; identify improvement opportunities.
  • Coordinate complex or sensitive cases with outside counsel, ensuring consistent communication and documentation.
  • Stakeholder Advisory & Enablement Advise business leaders, HR partners, and Talent teams on immigration and mobility considerations tied to hiring, reorganizations, and workforce planning.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition on immigration-eligible hiring strategies and timing considerations.
  • Provide clear escalation recommendations on high-risk or non-standard cases.
  • Reporting, Risk Management & Continuous Improvement Develop and maintain reporting on immigration volumes, case status, risk trends, audit exposure, and vendor performance.
  • Identify emerging compliance risks, policy gaps, or operational inefficiencies.
  • Drive continuous improvement of immigration and mobility processes, controls, and documentation.
  • Ensure strong audit trails, governance standards, and data integrity across immigration and mobility programs.
