Recreation & Wellbeing at the University of Wisconsin–Madison is seeking a self-motivated Grounds & Facility Technician I with a passion for outdoor grounds maintenance. We are looking for a mechanically inclined team member and offer on-the-job training for individuals willing to learn and expand their skill set. Working at Recreation & Wellbeing facilities provides a dynamic environment where no two days are the same. This temporary position is a unique opportunity to acquire new skills, including basic building repairs, outdoor field maintenance, and light mechanical work. Responsibilities include the safe and skilled operation of zero-turn lawn mowers, string trimmers, leaf blowers, utility vehicles, snow removal equipment, and various hand and power tools. Daily tasks include lawn mowing and string trimming across more than 40 acres of athletic fields and surrounding areas, maintaining and grooming approximately 12 acres of synthetic athletic fields, and maintaining sand volleyball courts. This role also supports trash and debris cleanup across outdoor sports and recreation facilities and assists with the maintenance of grounds equipment and related sports equipment.
