Recreation & Wellbeing at the University of Wisconsin–Madison is seeking a self-motivated Grounds & Facility Technician with a passion for outdoor grounds maintenance and hands-on work in a variety of settings. Working across Rec Well facilities provides a dynamic environment where no two days are the same. This position offers the opportunity to start a career at a top-tier university while gaining valuable experience in outdoor field maintenance, basic building repairs, and light mechanical work. On-the-job training is provided for individuals who are eager to learn and expand their skill set. This role supports the upkeep of more than 40 acres of athletic fields and outdoor recreation spaces through safe and skilled operation of equipment including zero-turn lawn mowers, string trimmers, leaf blowers, utility vehicles, snow removal equipment, and various hand and power tools. Daily responsibilities include lawn mowing and string trimming, maintaining and grooming approximately 12 acres of synthetic athletic fields, maintaining sand volleyball courts, and completing trash and debris cleanup across outdoor sports and recreation facilities. The position also assists with the maintenance of grounds equipment and related sports equipment to ensure facilities remain safe, clean, and ready for use by the campus community.
