About The Position

We are launching people to the Moon and Mars. The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs. Amentum is seeking an experienced Group Manager for Ground Systems Support (GSS) Work Management organization to lead a diverse team of planners, schedulers, and readiness personnel in support of mission critical operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center. This role provides strategic direction, operational oversight, and technical guidance to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant work management processes that enable the execution of ground systems capabilities supporting Exploration Ground Systems, SLS, Orion, ISS, and Launch Services programs. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership experience, demonstrated expertise in planning and scheduling, and proven success operating in a dynamic aerospace, aviation, or technical environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in related management area; and seven years of progressive leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated success managing teams in planning, scheduling, production control, or work management.
  • Must have a valid US Driver's License.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CMMS systems, schedule management tools, and standard business applications.
  • Fundamental understanding of Asset Management principles (ISO 55000) and work control functions (coordination, planning, scheduling, resource allocation).
  • Ability to develop resource loaded, logic linked work schedules and support forecasting activities.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if required.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer relationship skills.
  • Demonstrated experience guiding diverse teams performing time critical technical work.
  • Strong understanding of safety processes and safe work practices in industrial, technical, or aerospace environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in aviation, aerospace, spaceport operations, or large-scale technical/industrial programs.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO9000 Quality Management Systems.
  • Knowledge of COMET engineering, work instruction, work execution, and Work Management processes.
  • Background in Continuous Improvement, predictive maintenance technologies, or data administration.
  • Experience facilitating cross functional planning and readiness sessions.
  • Proven ability to analyze schedule data, identify risks, and recommend recovery or optimization strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of planners, short and long-range schedulers, and readiness personnel supporting all Work Management functions across the COMET contract.
  • Build a positive, collaborative, and high-performance culture rooted in integrity, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish performance expectations, conduct evaluations, and provide coaching, recognition, and disciplinary guidance as required.
  • Translate directorate goals into actionable operational plans for the team.
  • Support resource planning and assess schedule impacts related to budget planning exercises.
  • Oversee the development of analytical, data driven planning and scheduling products to support decision-making for stakeholders across GSS.
  • Ensure effective integration of the GSS planning and scheduling function with project controls, program management, and other operational groups.
  • Provide oversight of task estimating, risk management, performance measurement, document control, and reporting.
  • Ensure consistent and effective use of GSS Work Management systems to assign, plan, track, and manage workforce tasks and resources.
  • Develop and maintain metrics to monitor performance, schedule adherence, safety, cost compliance, and overall efficiency.
  • Lead multiorganizational planning sessions to support integrated operational readiness.
  • Promote a strong safety culture by participating in field activities, pre task briefings, PPE assessments, and safety observations.
  • Ensure work is executed safely and in compliance with NASA requirements, documented procedures, and authorized work instructions.
  • Support incident response activities, ensuring timely reporting, investigation, and corrective actions.
  • Identify and drive opportunities for process improvement, innovation, and best practice adoption across Work Management.
  • Communicate regularly with internal and external customers to ensure alignment, transparency, and mission support.
  • Prepare and deliver reports, presentations, and formal updates regarding schedule status, risks, and opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
