About The Position

Copper Mountain Resort is a vacation destination located 75 miles west of Denver, Colorado in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. During the winter months, Copper's world-class terrain offers skiing and riding for all ages and abilities. Each summer, the mountain transforms into a playground for hikers, mountain bikers, and anyone seeking a genuine Colorado experience. Copper Mountain Resort is also home to Woodward Copper action-sports camps, programs, and training facility. Job Title: Group Sales Manager Job Status: Year Round Full Time Compensation and Benefits: Compensation: Proposed hiring rate of $ 2,384.62 to $2,500.00 biweekly amount, actual pay will be adjusted based on experience. This position is eligible for sales commission based upon completed target goals. Job Summary: Solicit, negotiate and sell specific group business in assigned geographic territory, segments and and/or assigned accounts. Enthusiastically promote and sell Copper’s conference and meeting space facilities in addition to other group business that meets the established rate requirements and revenue targets. Successfully attain individual sales goals for all revenue areas including lodging, food and beverage, and other services as assigned. Maintain a high level of interaction with prospective group leaders and clients through FAM tours and in-market events.

Requirements

  • Must be able to lift and carry items up to 50 lbs.
  • Due to the sensitive nature of this position, a criminal background check will be conducted after position is accepted. This background check will be done in accordance with standards enacted under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • This position may require the use of a motor vehicle and the employee is subject to comply with the Driver’s Standards of Copper Mountain.
  • Must have a valid US Driver’s License
  • College graduate preferred
  • Minimum 1 year lodging-hospitality sales experience
  • Knowledge of Copper Mountain Resort
  • Experience with conference, leisure group and wholesale markets
  • Prefer working knowledge of Delphi and V1
  • Adaptability, capable of multitasking
  • Strong prioritization and organization skills
  • Capable of working productively with minimal direct supervision
  • Strong computer skills/Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Superior organizational and follow-up skills

Responsibilities

  • Meet or exceed sales goals to be accomplished by: Acquiring and maintaining a complete knowledge of the resort and its services that are sold to leisure and conference groups
  • Identifying qualified prospects; initiates, develops, expands relationships in assigned segments
  • Managing client prospects through account management system (e.g. Delphi)
  • Managing and responding to requests for proposals, responds to all requests within 24 hours
  • Having a complete understanding and mastery of correctly responding to RFPs
  • Converting prospective clientele into committed Copper Mountain guests through in-office visits, property tours and regular communications.
  • Having a clear knowledge of and able to gain information from lodging reservation system (V1)
  • Negotiating lodging, function space, food and beverage, resort/recreation services and transportation services that work within the defined parameters established for the resort
  • Understanding and supporting guidelines for soliciting groups that meet “profitability” standards (ADR, stay patterns, revenue for conference facilities, banquets revenue minimums, etc)
  • Actively participating in “daily business review process” and abides by policies for approval of “one-off groups”
  • Working closely with Copper internal operations teams that directly impact groups, including lodging, lodging reservations, resort services, food and beverage/banquets, transportation, golf and activities.
  • Proficiency and accuracy in utilization of sales/catering booking management system (Delphi). Staying current and meet systems standards.
  • Maintaining detailed documentation of group commitments in Delphi booking.
  • Accurately executing contracts and distributes for approval; understands legal parameters for clauses and involves Copper legal team for approval of “one offs”
  • Planning and implementing FAM tours and site inspections for qualified decision makers
  • Attaining assigned ADR for assigned market segments
  • Keeping current with all Copper products, pricing, strategies
  • On an annual basis the Group Sales Manager will receive a sales goal that he/she will be responsible for in assigned Market Segments. Assigned segments are subject to change according to business strategy and requirements.
  • The Group Sales Manager maintains professional relationships with Copper Mountain’s partners and community.
  • The Group Sales Manager fashions a favorable public image for Copper Mountain and an appreciation for its plans through effective representation to customers, local communities, Summit County, in ways that enhance Copper Mountain’s public image as a sound investment and responsible "citizen" and also facilitates understanding and support for the company's interests and positions.
  • Functions as an ambassador of Copper Mountain, modeling and sharing the Copper “culture” with our guests and employees.

  • Continually strives to exceed our guest’s expectations and create memories for our guests and staff.
  • All Leadership team members are expected to participate in the company’s Front Line Assist program to assist in operations as needed, as well as to participate in Leadership events such as meetings, required trainings, and participating in employee dinners/events
