The Group Sales Manager is responsible for generating and securing group room and event business that drives revenue, builds lasting partnerships, and reflects the spirit of our brand. This role is instrumental in positioning Hotel Phoenix as a premier destination in Atlanta for corporate meetings, social events, and curated group experiences, while delivering a seamless and elevated client journey from inquiry to execution.

Requirements

  • 2–5+ years of experience in hotel sales, group sales, or catering sales, preferably in an upscale or lifestyle hotel
  • Proven ability to meet or exceed sales targets and revenue goals
  • Strong negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills
  • Experience with CRM systems and RFP platforms (e.g., Cvent)
  • Proficiency in Delphi (or similar sales and catering systems) required
  • Demonstrated experience managing group bookings, room blocks, and event details within Delphi
  • Ability to generate and analyze sales reports, booking pace, and production data to support revenue strategies
  • High level of accuracy in maintaining client records, contracts, and sales activity within systems

Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify, solicit, and secure group business across corporate, SMERF, entertainment, and social markets
  • Achieve and exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual room night and revenue goals
  • Develop targeted strategies to grow market share and maximize profitability
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for group clients from lead through contract execution
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with planners, corporations, and community partners
  • Conduct engaging site tours that showcase the unique story and energy of Hotel Phoenix
  • Prepare customized proposals and negotiate group contracts, room blocks, and concessions
  • Ensure all agreements align with revenue strategy and hotel standards
  • Accurately input, track, and manage all leads, bookings, and activities in the sales system
  • Respond promptly to incoming inquiries (Cvent, direct leads, referrals)
  • Maintain an active pipeline through consistent prospecting, networking, and follow-up
  • Participate in industry events, trade shows, and local networking opportunities
  • Partner closely with Catering, Revenue Management, and Operations teams to ensure seamless group execution
  • Communicate client expectations clearly to internal teams to deliver exceptional service
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and booking pace
  • Provide regular updates on sales performance, forecasts, and opportunities
