About The Position

This position is a Supervisory Health Care Technician II (HCT II) and reports to the Unit Manager at Infirmary. As a lead worker, the HCT II monitors care of individuals by Health Care Technician I's (HCT I) providing feedback to staff as needed. The HCT II provides direct care services to individuals with intellectual disabilities/developmental disabilities, some of whom have behavioral problems and/or medical conditions. These services are in the form of: • behavioral programming • habilitative training and activities • assisting with health care needs that are necessary • carry out program goals to encourage independent functioning in all aspects of daily living • intervening with individuals who are agitated • reporting orally and in writing • monitoring for safety concerns ALL employees of Murdoch Center are designated as ESSENTIAL for adverse weather and emergency events.

Requirements

  • Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement.
  • Applicants must have the ability to pass a physical requirements test, Murdoch Developmental Center “Basic Training Series,” which includes, but is not limited to Program Library Training, First Aid, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI), CPR, Body Mechanics and lifting.
  • Direct Care positions require flexibility.
  • To be considered for employment, you must be in good standing with the North Carolina Health Care Personnel Registry.
  • High school or General Educational Development diploma and one year of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • As required, listing as a Nurse Aide I by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation.
  • As applicable, listing as a Nurse Aide II by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
  • As applicable, North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification.
