About The Position

Health & Safety Internship Location: Barre, VT Position Status: Immediately /full time Rock of Ages and Swenson (AFCO) , a division of Polycor, has an opening for a Health & Safety Intern. This is a hands-on role with a focus on regulatory and risk management, monitoring, and measurement of safety performance. The successful candidate will be critical in supporting initiatives for continuous improvement. Internship Goals: 1) Provide an opportunity for a secondary education student to apply education in a business setting and gain experience. 2) Assist Polycor in improving the Health & Safety culture and compliance. Learning Objectives: 1) Intern will gain knowledge in MSHA & OSHA regulations. 2) Intern will improve interpersonal skills and ability to impact employee habits. 3) Intern will gain experience in compliance implementation, hazard recognition, prioritizing tasks, organization, and public speaking. Potential Projects: 1) Work with Management and staff to create detailed Job Hazard Analysis’ for multiple tasks. 2) Create and execute Topics for Safety Meetings. 3) Assist in workplace safety audits 4) Development of written Lock out/Tag out procedures for a variety of manufacturing equipment. 5) Assist in Environmental monitoring.
