About The Position

Empowered Services is seeking a compassionate, organized, and highly motivated Hiring Specialist to join our growing team. In this role, you will play a vital part in building the team that supports individuals in the Intellectual and Developmental Disability (IDD) community across Oregon. The Hiring Specialist is responsible for overseeing the recruitment and onboarding of Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) and other providers. This position works closely with management, county coordinators, providers, and applicants to ensure we are hiring qualified and compassionate staff who align with Empowered Services’ mission of providing high-quality, person-centered care. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, enjoys connecting with people, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where organization and communication are key. This position will start in May of 2026.

Requirements

  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, HR, or administrative coordination preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
  • Comfortable learning and working within HR software systems
  • Passion for supporting individuals in the IDD community
  • Proficient with Google and Windows platforms (including Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Sheets, Docs, Excel, and Word)
  • Knowledge of the I/DD community
  • Be cleared through a federal background check
  • Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma/GED
  • Candidates must be able to: Communicate professionally and genuinely with customers, co-workers, providers, and visitors.

  • Identify, solve, and respond to critical situations
  • Collect customer and provider feedback
  • Be a team player and work with people of different ages and skill levels

Responsibilities

  • Manage the recruitment process for Direct Support Professionals
  • Review applications, conduct interviews, and evaluate candidates for alignment with customer needs
  • Coordinate hiring decisions and communicate next steps with applicants
  • Oversee onboarding processes, ensuring all required paperwork and trainings are completed
  • Maintain accurate employee records within HR systems such as BambooHR
  • Coordinate background checks and employment eligibility documentation
  • Communicate with county coordinators, internal staff, and applicants to support provider placement
  • Write job postings, organize recruitment outreach, and lead the company's hiring strategy
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal employment requirements
  • Reply to all emails, text messages, and voicemails daily (within 24 hours)
  • Answer incoming calls
  • Operate the MAGICARD Pronto badge printer
