Jobs in this career family support students' emotional and physical well-being and intellectual, cultural, and social development outside the context of the formal instruction program or traditional academic unit. Functions include student counseling, career guidance, residence life, multicultural affairs, support of student activities and organizations, recreation services and intramural athletics administration. Professionals at the entry level are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability, and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying, and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field. At the entry level, duties are limited in scope and are performed with guidance and direction from the Manager of Student Affairs & Events and are performed in a training and Development capacity. This role is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to make a meaningful impact on the student experience at the School of Medicine while growing professionally in student services, event coordination, and community engagement. As the HOPE Events Coordinator, you will be at the center of creating programs that shape students’ sense of belonging, well-being, and connection—from high-energy events like the Youth Summit and HOPEcoming to newsletters and communications that keep the SOM community informed and engaged. Because this position supports both students and key leadership, you’ll gain valuable exposure to the inner workings of medical education, student life, and diversity-focused initiatives, all while developing skills in project management, communication, and student support. With a hybrid schedule and a collaborative team environment, this is a great chance to build a strong foundation in higher education and student affairs. The work you do will be vital in ensuring the smooth operation of HOPE programs and the Office of Student Life. You’ll help manage major events, support dozens of student interest groups, coordinate communication efforts, and serve as the welcoming face of the HOPE office, which directly contribute to creating an inclusive, supportive environment for SOM students. Whether you’re coordinating conference travel, preparing social media content, or assisting with community outreach, your contributions will strengthen partnerships across the campus and the broader community. This is a dynamic, hands-on role that lets you see the impact of your work every day while supporting the next generation of health professionals.
